the 2020 Brownlow Medal

Last night I was lucky enough to again dress some of the AFL‘s leading men for the sports night of nights as the end of the season draws to an end and the start of Grand Final week is celebrated. While this years Brownlow Medal, which celebrates the umpires favourite players of the year, may have been a little different – with boys and events all over the country and quarantine rules in some states making fittings almost non-existent, not to mention the 8 day warning that the event would go ahead – the glamour that surrounds the event was the same, and while the sport had decided to relax their usually strict rule of black tie that only led to confusion, and in the end beautiful chaos that saw some amazingly creative outfits!

Given 15 men, Brisbane‘s Jarryd LyonsCarlton‘s Paddy Dow &  Sam WalshCollingwood‘s Brayden Maynard & Jack Crisp, Essendon‘s Andy McGarthFremantle‘s Andy BrayshawGeelong‘s Cameron Guthrie & Sam Menegola, Gold Coast‘s Hugh GreenwoodGWS‘ Toby GreeneMelbourne‘s Jack Viney, North Melbourne‘s Luke McDonaldSt Kilda‘s Zak Jones & Western Bulldogs‘ Bailey Williams, I really had my work cut out for me but after chatting to each of the players and hearing what they wanted to wear we started to plan out just what each of the players would be wearing. Once those chats were had we went to the drawing board to see just what was needed and the best way to get each player dressed to their style when we came up with the plan to only use Australian designers given how hard this year had been for home grown business as well as fashion here, so after chatting to local brands and hearing how each of them felt we decided on working with nation wide suiting brands MJ Bale, Politix, SABATed Baker & Van Heusen as well as Melbourne local brand Hardy Amies & MNDTORY and shoe brands Florsheim & Wild Rhino.

Check out how all the planning went and see some of the AFL‘s leading men wearing a plethora of Australian designers at this years Brownlow Medal live from venues, and homes, around the country! Also feel free to check out each of the brands tagged below – as all looks are now in-store and available to be purchased, so you can look as good as your favourite players…
